Commonwealth Scholarships for African Students at Bangor University, UK – 2024
6 master’s scholarships will be funded jointly by Bangor University and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission beginning in September 2024.
The CSC will accept nominations for candidates through December 2023 from agencies. The deadline for applications may be determined by nominating organizations independently.

Students from East and Central African nations will be given preference when it comes to eligible nations. Strong applicants who live in Uganda or Kenya who are refugees, internally displaced people, or have been in some other way impacted by violence are of particular interest to us.

Eligibility Criteria
- Being a citizen of, or having received refugee status from, a Commonwealth nation that qualifies, or being a British Protected Person.
- Occupy a permanent residence in a Commonwealth nation.
- Be prepared to begin your academic studies in the UK by September 2024, the start of the UK academic year.
- Possess a first degree with at least upper second class (2:1) honors or a second class degree (2:2) and an appropriate postgraduate degree (often a Master’s degree) by September 2024. A second UK Master’s degree is not typically funded by the CSC. You must explain your motivation for pursuing this study if you are applying for a second UK Master’s degree.
- If not for this scholarship, be unable to pay to attend school in the UK.
- Have delivered the necessary supplementary materials in the required format.
- Candidates should consult the nominating agency for information on their specific application guidelines and guidance.

Scholarship Worth:
- Airfare from your place of origin to the UK and back at the conclusion of your grant, as approved
- Tuition costs
- A monthly living allowance of £1,347, or stipend
- Where appropriate, a thesis grant to help with the cost of writing a dissertation
- Allowance for warm clothes and, if necessary, refund for visa fees Study travel grant to cover the costs of studying abroad or in the UK
Spouses and other dependents are not eligible for further compensation.
