As long as your research plan justifies it, you may use the 12-month scholarship-funded study term in the UK at any point throughout your PhD program. The award term may be split into two or more phases, with a maximum of 12 months passing between each one. You will be allowed to spend up to six months of your first year of study in the UK if you haven’t already begun your PhD at the time of application.
