Apply for Scholarship for Graduate Study at the World Bank

Posted by: || Categories: Scholarship

With the 2023 Japan/World Bank Joint Postgraduate Scholarship, the World Bank Graduate Scholarship now offers financial aid to students in need. Citizens of developing nations who wish to enroll in master’s degree programs in important development fields may apply for the scholarship program.

The World Bank Postgraduate Scholarship offers recipients the chance to further their studies at one of the institutions in the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, or Japan that is a partner institution. For 48 participating programs on development-related subjects, such as tax policy, economic policy management, and infrastructure management, the World Bank offers scholarships.

Scholarships are provided by the Development Economics Vice Presidency (DEC) of the Bank to support the objective of developing fresh, cutting-edge approaches to capacity building and knowledge exchange among developing nations.

By making investments in the educational system, capacity development, and human resource development in the developing world, the World Bank aims to foster economic growth and shared prosperity.

More than 6000 highly qualified and experienced specialists and scholars have been developed through DEC’s scholarship programs since 1982, influencing their countries and having a beneficial influence on future generations.

Current Programs

The JJWBGSP stands for the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Student Scholarship Program. More than 6,000 mid-career professionals from 160 developing nations, including Japan, have been given the opportunity to advance their careers since 1987 thanks to the JJWBGSP. The JJWBGSP is wholly funded by the Japanese government each year.

RSMFP stands for Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program. Since 1982, RSMFP has helped budding young scientists in a variety of relevant sectors to advance their careers. Promising young researchers are currently connected to World Bank research, data resources, and technical assistance through this program. Fellows chosen for the program live in a cohort at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., where they take part in DEC studies, get formal education, and engage in pertinent policy research.
Program not in use

JIPS, or the Japan-Indonesia President Scholarship Program: Applications are no longer being accepted for the program. With a single $10 million grant from the Japanese government, three groups of 43 Indonesian Ph.D. students were allowed to study overseas from 2008 to 2010 under the direction of ten partner Indonesian universities. New applications are now being accepted via the window.
