Apply Now | Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate Students Program (TLG) – 2023/24
American University in Cairo (AUC), the US Department of State, and the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA/AC) collaborated to create the Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate (TLG) Students program. Application period for 2023–2024 is currently open. Candidates that meet the requirements are encouraged to apply.
Through organized graduate study and research that advances the professionalization of emerging leaders and offers regional solutions to shared problems in the MENA region, the TLG provides academically qualified and economically deserving students with the professional qualifications and experience needed to advance knowledge and contribute to the achievement of socially relevant outcomes.

Qualification Standards
Applications for the Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate (TLG) Students program must fulfill the following requirements in order to be considered:
- Nationals or citizens of Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia, Yemen, Syria, Bahrain, the West Bank, and Gaza should be eligible to apply.
- Candidates must fulfill the prerequisites for AUC graduate admission.
- Candidates must possess strong academic potential and have completed a bachelor’s degree with an equivalent or minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English; maturity, adaptability, and leadership potential as shown by recommendations, interviews, and extracurricular activities.
- Need for money.
The Graduate Programs That Qualify
TLG provides Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) students with a special chance to pursue postsecondary education and graduate from The American University in Cairo (AUC) with a master’s degree in any of the following programs:
- Master of Arts in Gender and Women’s Studies (MA GNST)
- Master of Arts in International and Comparative Education (MA ICED)
- Master of Arts in Migration and Refugee Studies (MA CMRS)
- Master of Arts in Economics in International Development (MA ECID)
- Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (MA JRMC)
- Master of Public Policy (MPP)
- Master of Public Administration (MPA)
- MA in Middle East Studies (MA MEST)
- Master of International Human Rights Law (MA IHRL)
- Master of Science in Sustainable Development (MS SSDV)
- Master of Arts in Sociology/Anthropology (MA SOAN)
- Master of Arts in Political Science (MA POLS)
- Master of Science in Biotechnology (MS BIOT)
- Master of Science in Environmental Engineering (MS ENVE)
Program Advantages
Programs for TLG students include:
- The entire cost of tuition for the autumn and spring terms
- Health insurance
- A monthly allowance
- During the course of the program, the laptop used for student housing
- Possibility of internship or practicum, with reimbursement for any necessary local travel expenses
- Possibility of presenting research findings at a single conference, which will be applied for and awarded competitively in accordance with Graduate Student Support Grant requirements
- During breaks, students who are unable to return home due to uncontrollable circumstances can continue their approved program activities on campus with housing and a living allowance. Two annual round-trip economy
- Airline tickets from home to campus
- Book stipend

How Do I Apply? The following actions should be taken by applicants as part of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate (TLG) Students program application process:
- Application for FHI360 must be submitted.
- The AUC TLG graduate entrance application must be submitted.
