[Anglican Devotional 4 April 2024} Topic: Life

Posted by: || Categories: Devotional

TOPIC: John 20: 30-31 (NKJV)

  1. And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;
  2. but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

THE MESSAGE:

In the courtroom, the prosecution and defence attorneys usually give their closing arguments before the judgement. It is a statement of their strongest reasons. Similarly, these verses offer the strongest reasons for written scripture – they are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you may have life in His name. So the purpose of reading or preaching the word of God is so that people may come to a personal saving faith in Jesus as the Christ (Saviour) sent by God to save the entire world (See John 3: 16; Matthew 1: 21).

Believing in Jesus Christ is not in vain. It makes one have life – the God kind of life. Jesus Christ gives life with fullness (John 10: 10). He offers a life of rest (Matthew 11: 28) and peace (John 14: 27). Moreover, the life He gives is everlasting; it continues beyond death. Have you believed Jesus for your salvation? Do you have everlasting life? Are you living life to its fullness? Ask Jesus to take over, and tell others about this life.

PRAYER: Dear Jesus, be my Lord and Saviour; fill me with new life.
