TOPIC: Sing To The Lord A New Song

READ: Psalm 96:1-3 (NKJV)

Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth.
Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.
THE MESSAGE:

The Psalmist here invites each one of us to sing a new song to the Lord. The reasons for singing, the content of the song, and the manner of singing it are highlighted in the text. Verses 4-6 show about 6 reasons why we should praise God: Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised (verse 4).

The Lord created the heavens, while what people call “gods” are really man-made idols (verse 5). Can you itemise the others? The content of the new song to the Lord consists of words declaring who God is, what He does and His supremacy over all. These declarations are to be accompanied with offerings and various forms of worship (verses 7-9). The heavens and the earth with its vegetation and the seas are invited to participate in this universal worship (verses 11-13; Psalm 19:1). Let us learn to praise God at all times and under all circumstances. Let us praise Him when we are at the mountain top and all things are bright and beautiful, and also when we “walk through the valley of the shadow of death” (Psalm 23:4).

PRAYER: O God, I praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
