TOPIC: Do Not Compare Yourself With Others (Seeds Of Destiny 27 September 2021)

Until responsibility to serve God is made personal, results are never made possible.

SCRIPTURE: For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Until responsibility to serve God is made personal, results are never made possible.

Serving God is key to Kingdom advancement and destiny fulfilment. God saved us to love and serve Him.

However, there are temptations that hinder effective service to God. And one of those temptations is the temptation of comparing your commitment with the commitments of others.

2 Corinthians 10:12 says,

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

Comparing yourself and your work with others and their work is a temptation. It is a temptation when you say, “I am the only one doing all the work in this department. I am the only one who comes on time to church for departmental meetings. We are meant to start the departmental meeting by 5:30pm. I am here already and it is almost 6 pm, yet, others have not come. Maybe I should stop coming on time. Maybe I should stop killing myself in serving God.” This is a temptation.

Beloved, the truth is, if you compare what you do for God with what others do for God, you are likely to reduce in commitment. This is because we live in a passive generation.

Matthew 24:12 says,

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

The passion of people dies as we approach the end of the age.

Take note of this: Until the responsibility to serve God is made personal, results are never made possible. It is not first about a collective responsibility but a personal responsibility.

When you come to a point in life where you say, “It doesn’t matter what anybody does or does not do, I know what I am here for”, that is the point of acceptable service.

Beloved, serve God without comparison with others for we shall individually, not collectively, account for our service to God.

Remember this: Until responsibility to serve God is made personal, results are never made possible.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Refuse to compare your commitment to God with the commitments of others for God.
Take the Work of God personal and serve Him passionately irrespective of what others do.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive more grace and passion to work for You. Help me to personalize my walk and work with You despite what others do, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: Let service to God and His kingdom be the reason why you live. Culled from “15 KINGDOM STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: Nahum 2-Habakkuk 1

REFLECTION: People arrived on earth individually and depart from the earth individually. Our actions and existence on earth must therefore happen individually and personally.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: The grace to accept personal responsibility for your assignment for God in the earth is released in Jesus’ Name.

Today’s devotional was written by Pastor Paul Enenche of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), headquartered at Abuja, Nigeria, with Pastor Paul and Becky Enenche, as the Senior Pastors. It is a power-packed arena where God’s Presence, Principles and Power are at work for the salvation, healing and restoration of human destinies and dignities
