Topic: God To Pharaoh

Read: Exodus 7:1-13 (NKJV)

So the LORD said to Moses: “See, I have made you [as] God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.
“You shall speak all that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh to send the children of Israel out of his land.
“And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.
“But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies [and] My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
“And the Egyptians shall know that I [am] the LORD, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”
Then Moses and Aaron did [so;] just as the LORD commanded them, so they did.
And Moses [was] eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.
Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
“When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast [it] before Pharaoh, [and] let it become a serpent.’ “
So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the LORD commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.
And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the LORD had said.
MESSAGE:

The children of Israel found themselves in slavery in Egypt as a consequence of their disobedience to God. The Egyptians made their lives bitter with hard labour in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the field (Exod. 1:11-14). But the merciful God, in His great mercy heard their cry, and sent a deliverer (Moses) to them (Exod. 3&4).In stiff opposition to the move of God to deliver His children, Pharaoh, declared,“ … who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go”(Exod. 5:2). However, the unstoppable and indomitable God showed his supremacy over Pharaoh in various ways. For example, in today’s passage, the LORD said to Moses, “ … see, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet”(Exod. 7:1 NET).By that, Moses was to act in this business as God’s representative, to act and speak in His name and perform things beyond the ordinary course of nature. Aaron his brother was to be his “voice.” God was not going to waste his time struggling with a mere mortal – Pharaoh.

Beloved, you have a greater power and authority than any “Pharaoh” who wants to stop you from entering into your inheritance (1John 4:4; Jer. 1:9-11). Arise with boldness, and declare your victory over that “Pharaoh” for the Scripture says, “Thou shalt also declare a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways” (Job 22:28).

PRAYER: Father, help me to understand and exercise daily my authority as your representative in all things in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen!
