Now accepting applications for the Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme 2023. By offering funding, the program seeks to promote a thriving and long-lasting AI ecosystem in Nigeria. Researchers and start-up businesses looking to expedite their research and development efforts are welcome to submit applications.

For 45 successful AI researchers or start-ups, the program will provide up to N5,000,000 each in the following sectors, among others: agriculture, finance, health care, education & workforce, governance, sustainability, and utility.

Eligibility Criteria for Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme 2023

Candidates must fulfill the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for this program:

• A group that consists of a technological startup, a Nigerian scholar, or a foreign researcher
• Must have a research plan that is compatible with the AI priority areas set forth by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy
• A thorough proposal explaining the project and its possible effects on the Nigerian economy must be submitted by the applicant.
• Must have a track record of outstanding achievement in research or entrepreneurship
• Within a year of obtaining the funding, the recipient must be able to publish at least one peer-reviewed article.

Selection Standards

A group of AI specialists will evaluate grant applications. The selection standards will comprise:

• Inventiveness and novelty of the research idea
• Excellence in research or entrepreneurship records of the applicant
• Research alignment with Ministry’s AI focus areas
• The project’s viability

How-to-Apply: Following these steps will let you apply for the Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme:

• Applications are to be submitted via the specified internet method.
• An experienced panel in AI will review the submissions and assess them.
• Application candidates who have been selected for an interview will be notified via email.
• Successful candidates will receive email notification.
