[TREM Devotional 8 August 2020] Topic: What You Have Is Better

TREM Devotional
“And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect”. Hebrews 11:39, 40 KJV.

God did marvellous and powerful things through the people listed as heroes of faith in the book of Hebrews. By faith, these people earned a good reputation. By faith, the heroes of faith overthrew kingdoms and shut the mouth of lions. They were not ordinary people! They were heavy! God used them to do exploits. Yet none of them received all that God promised. Why did they not receive it?

God has better things in mind for us. With all that they did and with all that they achieved, what you have is better. God arranged things in such a way that they will not reach perfection without us. Until we manifest, they cannot reach perfection. We are their hope. The new creation is loaded! You are the righteousness of God in Christ. Your righteousness gives you equality with God because it is the life of God. Righteousness gives you access and boldness into God’s presence. It gives you boldness against the forces of hell. It gives you boldness here on earth. So, if you don’t know you are righteous, your faith can never work effectively.

Faith works on the platform of righteousness. And you don’t labour to be righteous. You don’t work to be righteous. Without righteousness you don’t have boldness. The devil will keep on jumping on your shoulders. He will keep on telling you your failures of the past. You need to understand, therefore, that as a New Testament believer, righteousness is your heritage. It is your right. It is not a privilege. There is a difference between privilege and right. Privilege is what is given to you, though you are not qualified for it. But right means what is yours by virtue of your birth. A prince doesn’t do anything to become a prince. He is a prince because he is born into a royalty. All that needed to be done is to be born into the family. Indeed, what you have is better. Rejoice in Him.
