DPR Disowns Bashir Ahmad Appointment Letter, Says It’s Fake

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has debunked news of a purported appointment letter issued to a Mr. Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Rumours were rife yesterday, that the said Mr. Ahmad hustled his way in “as the head of the newly-established National Production Monitoring System (NPMS) of DPR – Nigeria’s preeminent oil and gas sector regulator.

“Bashir got the appointment early January, but his documentation took place last week,” an online medium, PeoplesGazette reported.

Mr. Ahmad, via online microblogging site Twitter, vehementlydenied same.

A friend sent me a link to a concocted story from an online news blog that the President has quietly appointed me as a manager of the DPR, a department of Ministry of Petroleum Resources, for those who want to know the truth, the story is 100% FALSE. I am not a staff of the DPR.

This morning, the said online medium tweeted, with a picture of an appointment letter supposedly issued to Mr. Ahmad.

Truth, Courage or Nothing!

With a lot of heated comments generated already, the DPR has come out to clear the air;
