The Teagasc Walsh PhD Scholarship 2026 offers a fully funded doctoral position at the University of Limerick, in partnership with Teagasc Moorepark. This prestigious program is centered on the “Next Gen Milking” project—an innovative research initiative aimed at transforming dairy farming through the development of next-generation, cow-level milking management systems.
The project integrates agriculture, animal science, engineering, and data analytics to enhance milking efficiency, milk quality, and animal welfare. It is conducted under the VistaMilk SFI Research Centre, a world-leading collaboration uniting researchers and industry experts in dairy and agri-tech innovation.
Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive funding package that includes:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Hold a first-class or upper second-class honours degree in a relevant field (e.g., Agricultural Sciences, Animal Sciences, Dairy, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, Mathematics & Statistics, or Computer Science).
Demonstrate strong analytical, data processing, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with statistical or modelling software is desirable.
Possess a valid driving licence.
Meet the University of Limerick’s English language proficiency requirements.
A Master’s degree in a related discipline is advantageous but not mandatory.
