Good news! Applications are now open for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program 2026–2027. This prestigious fellowship supports talented young scientists from around the world who are conducting research in immunology and cancer immunology.
The program offers full funding for postdoctoral researchers and provides:
Up to $59,000 per year in stipend support
An additional $1,500 annual allowance to help cover research supplies, travel to scientific meetings, and/or health insurance
This fellowship gives early-career researchers the opportunity to train at leading non-profit institutions in the U.S. or abroad, under the guidance of distinguished faculty sponsors.

Application Deadlines: March 1, 2026 and September 1, 2026 (annual cycle)
Recipients of the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship will receive:
Year 1: $55,000 stipend
Year 2: $57,000 stipend
Year 3: $59,000 stipend
Annual allowance of $1,500 (for supplies, travel, or health insurance at the host institution’s discretion)
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Language Requirement: English
Eligible Countries: Open worldwide
Research must be directly related to immunology or cancer immunology
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) by the start of the fellowship
Research must be conducted under a sponsor with a formal appointment at the host institution
Applicants with 5+ years of relevant postdoctoral experience are ineligible (except M.D. applicants, where residency years are excluded)
Applicants who have already spent 3+ years in the sponsor’s lab by the fellowship start date are rarely considered
Fellowship must be conducted at a non-profit research institution
Only one applicant per sponsor per round may apply, and sponsors may supervise a maximum of three CRI-supported fellows at a time
To apply for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship, follow these steps:

Print and obtain required signatures for the Institutional Certifications section from:
Institutional Review Board (IRB) or certifying officer
Administrative officer
Financial officer
Scan your signed form and merge it with all required supporting documents into one PDF file
Upload your combined PDF through the online application system (or email to grants@cancerresearch.org if technical issues occur)
Your single PDF file must include:
Completed application form (with signatures)
Applicant’s background and research accomplishments
List of other funding sources applied for (with deadlines)
Curriculum vitae and bibliography
Research summary explaining project relevance to cancer immunology
Non-technical abstract describing the clinical importance of the research
Full research proposal (max 6 pages, including tables/figures; references excluded)
Letter from the sponsor introducing the applicant and confirming supervision
Sponsor’s CV/biosketch, recent bibliography (past 5 years), and current research funding
Two recommendation letters:
One from the applicant’s thesis advisor
One from another individual familiar with the applicant’s work
(The sponsor cannot provide these letters. If the sponsor was also the thesis advisor, applicants must contact CRI for special instructions.)
