About the Danish Government Scholarship

The Danish Government Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity offered to high-achieving international students pursuing Master’s degrees at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). The scholarship is designed to recognize and support talented non-EU/EEA students who must pay tuition fees.

Each year, a select number of scholarships are awarded in the form of:

  • A monthly living stipend of DKK 6,090 (before taxes)

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Danish Government Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country

  • Be liable to pay tuition fees at a Danish university

  • Have excellent academic qualifications

  • Apply and be admitted to one of the eligible Master’s programs at SDU

Language Requirements:

Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency equivalent to the Danish B level, which can be documented through one of the following:

  • IELTS: Minimum overall score of 6.5

  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 575 (paper-based), 230 (computer-based), or 88 (internet-based)

  • High school certificate: Minimum 210 hours of English instruction

  • SDU Language Requirement Form: Completed and signed by your institution

For Exchange and Guest Students:
You must have completed the equivalent of 180 ECTS credits (typically 3 years of university-level education) to take Master’s-level courses at SDU.


How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply for the Danish Government Scholarship:

  1. Apply for Admission:

    • Submit an online application for one of the eligible Master’s programs at the University of Southern Denmark.

    • There is no separate application for the scholarship — all admitted, eligible students are automatically considered.

  2. Upload Required Documents:

    • Language Requirement Form (print, fill, scan, and upload)

    • Copy of your valid passport or national ID card
