Supporting Alumni and Their Families in Postgraduate Research Studies
Applications are now open for the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Putra Alumni Scholarship Scheme (PASS) 2025, designed exclusively for international UPM alumni and their children who wish to pursue postgraduate research programs at UPM. This initiative reflects UPM’s commitment to nurturing global talent and fostering strong ties with its alumni community.

10% tuition fee waiver
For Children of UPM Alumni:
30–50% tuition fee waiver (based on the International Graduate Support Scheme – IGSS)
To qualify for PASS, applicants must:
Meet the general admission requirements for international students at UPM
Hold at least:
A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50, or
A Master’s degree
Be enrolled in a Programme by Research only
Conduct research in priority areas relevant to UPM/Malaysia
Not hold any other scholarship, financial assistance, or employment at the time of application
Provide a support letter from their academic advisor/supervisor
Have published at least one article in a recognized academic journal or received strong recommendations from academic authorities (e.g., Vice Chancellor, Dean, Director)
Submit a verification letter from their embassy confirming they are not receiving financial assistance from any agency or government
For UPM alumni applicants: must have Graduated on Time (GOT)
Priority will be given to applicants from developing countries that hold strategic importance to UPM.
UPM Alumni: Up to 100 recipients per year
Children of UPM Alumni: Up to 20 recipients per year
Master’s Degree: Up to 2 years
PhD: Up to 3 years

This scheme is only open to new students enrolling in the Second Semester 2024/2025, or existing students with “Continue” status in the same semester.
New students must submit applications before registration or, at the latest, during their second semester of study.
Applications submitted after the registration period will only take effect starting from the second semester.
