The University of Melbourne Law School is now accepting applications for the Visiting Fellowship 2026, hosted by the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness. This prestigious program invites international scholars, practitioners, and advocates working on issues of statelessness to engage in research, collaboration, and policy impact in a world-class academic environment.
The Visiting Fellowship Scheme aims to support individuals whose research contributes to advancing the mission of the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness. Fellows will benefit from:
📚 Access to world-class facilities including the University of Melbourne library and computing resources
🏢 Dedicated on-campus workspace
🎤 Opportunities to present research through seminars and workshops
🤝 Collaboration with Centre staff and participation in Centre events
Fellowship Duration: Between July and November 2026
This fellowship is exclusively open to scholars and professionals working in:
Law, with a specific focus on statelessness
One funded fellowship is available, offering:

🏛 Workspace and institutional access at the University of Melbourne Law School
📌 Active participation in the Centre’s events, research activities, and workshops
Fellows are required to:
Deliver a public seminar or a work-in-progress presentation
Submit a blog post to the Critical Statelessness Studies blog (if applicable)
Applicants must:
Be engaged in research or advocacy related to statelessness
Show the ability to collaborate effectively with Centre staff
Participate fully in the Centre’s academic community
Submit a complete application by November 30, 2025
Arrange their own visa and health insurance (if international)
The fellowship welcomes applications from:
Postdoctoral and tenured academics
Early-career researchers
Non-academic professionals with relevant applied research experience
Individuals with lived experience of statelessness (strongly encouraged to apply)
