To qualify for the UM Bright Talents Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
Hold nationality outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
Meet visa and residence permit requirements for study in the Netherlands.
Not hold dual nationality with an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
Not have previously enrolled in a degree-seeking program in the Netherlands (exchange program experience is allowed).
Be under 35 years of age as of 1 September 2026.
Have applied (or be conditionally admitted) to a participating Master’s program at Maastricht University for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Meet the specific admission requirements of their chosen Master’s program.
Be willing to act as a Brightlands and UM ambassador, sharing experiences during at least one student or stakeholder event.
Submit a complete application (documents cannot be modified after submission).
The UM Bright Talents Scholarship 2026 covers the full cost of studying and living in the Netherlands, including:
✅ Full tuition fee waiver for the duration of the program.
✅ €15,925 living stipend per year (€1,225 per month).
✅ Travel costs to and from the Netherlands.
✅ Accommodation, which will be pre-arranged and assigned to each recipient.
Note: Accepting the scholarship means you also accept the accommodation arranged by Maastricht University.

Step 1: Apply for Admission at Maastricht University
Register for a participating Master’s program via Studielink.
Once your program application is submitted, you will receive a UM student ID number.
You will need this ID number to complete the scholarship application.
Step 2: Complete the Scholarship Application Form
Log in with your UM account and fill in the UM Bright Talents Scholarship Application Form.
Upload all required documents in the specified format.
Submit your complete application before February 1, 2026.
