The Siddall Sheffield Scholarship is valued at approximately £50,000, which includes:
Full tuition fee coverage
A £18,000 living stipend, paid in four instalments

The scholarship cannot be deferred to future academic years.
It may not be combined with any other University of Sheffield awards.
Recipients must be self-funded and classified as overseas students for tuition purposes.
The stipend will be disbursed in four equal payments during the academic year.
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be a citizen of the United States
Not reside in the UK and have no prior UK residency
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
Have a preferred GPA of 3.7 or above
Submit your application online by January 13, 2026 (5 PM UK time) with the following documents:
Completed online application form
A 500-word research proposal related to your engineering field
A 500-word civic engagement essay outlining community involvement or leadership
One academic reference letter from a university faculty member
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview in March 2026. Final decisions will be communicated by March 31, 2026.
Applications will be assessed based on the following:
Academic Excellence (50%) – GPA, academic record, and technical accomplishments
Research Proposal (25%) – Innovation, relevance, and alignment with the Faculty of Engineering
Civic Engagement (25%) – Leadership, volunteer service, or community-driven initiatives

Q1: Is the scholarship open to non-US citizens?
No. Only applicants holding US citizenship are eligible.
Q2: Can I defer the award to a later year?
No. The scholarship is only valid for Autumn 2026 entry.
Q3: What does the stipend cover?
The £18,000 stipend is intended to cover living expenses, including accommodation, food, and daily costs while studying in the UK.
Q4: Is work experience necessary?
Not required, but strong academic records, research potential, and community involvement are essential.
Q5: My GPA is slightly below 3.7. Can I still apply?
Yes. While 3.7 is the preferred GPA, outstanding candidates with slightly lower GPAs may be considered based on the overall strength of their application.
