About the Scholarship

The Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships 2026-2027 are fully funded awards for exceptional international students undertaking Master’s studies at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands.

Each recipient will receive up to €30,000 per year, covering both tuition fees and living expenses. These scholarships are made possible by the Justus & Louise van Effen Foundation, created in memory of Mr. Justus van Effen, who studied at TU Delft in the 1940s and believed strongly in the power of technology to address societal challenges.

Application Process

Follow these steps to apply:

Step 1: Apply for an MSc Program

Step 2: Prepare Scholarship Documents

In addition to your MSc application materials, you must upload:

  1. Scholarship Application Form (available on TU Delft’s website).

  2. Two reference letters (combined into one PDF) written in English, French, German, or Dutch:

    • Must be from a previous professor or assistant professor. If you have work experience, one letter may be from your employer.

    • Should be on official letterhead or carry the institution’s stamp.

    • Must be signed and include your full name.

    Alternative submission: If your referee prefers to send the letter directly, they can email a scanned PDF to contactcentre-esa@tudelft.nl, including your name and TU Delft student number (issued after registering in Studielink). In this case, upload a statement in the application portal with your referee’s name and email address.

  3. English Language Certificate:

    • Non-EU/EFTA students: Must submit with application (if required).

    • EU/EFTA students: Can submit later as per admission guidelines.
