The Mastercard Foundation Innovation & Technology Scholarship at Arizona State University (ASU) is a transformative initiative designed to equip young African changemakers with the advanced digital, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills needed to shape Africa’s future.
This fully funded scholarship supports learners pursuing ASU’s Online Graduate Certificate programs, offering a pathway to a Master’s degree while fostering innovation and sustainable development across the continent.

The Mastercard Foundation, in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), launched the third phase of its Scholars Program (2024–2030) to empower 600 talented African leaders.
Through in-person and online learning, this phase provides access to graduate certificates and advanced programs in leadership, technology, and management, including opportunities for English language development and professional certification in supply chain and global management.
The goal is to nurture a new generation of African innovators who can harness technology to drive inclusive growth, entrepreneurship, and social impact in their home countries.
Students can pursue graduate-level certificates in:
Supply Chain Management
Leadership and Management
These programs are delivered online and may lead to a Master’s degree at ASU.

Pathway to a Master’s Degree
Applicants must:
Be citizens of an African country.
Be aged 18–33 years.
Reside in Rwanda for the duration of the program.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to social and economic transformation in their communities.
Possess solid academic performance and leadership potential.
Note: Candidates with effective communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills will have an advantage during selection.
Candidates are evaluated based on:
Academic excellence and motivation for graduate study.
Leadership qualities and community engagement.
Commitment to Africa’s development through innovation and technology.
Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview or further assessment.
Open to applicants from all African nations, provided they are based in Rwanda during the course of the program.

The Mastercard Innovation & Technology Scholarship offers comprehensive financial and academic support, including:

The program typically lasts 6–9 months, depending on the course structure and individual learning pace.
