Multidisciplinary AI research is supported in the context of societal impact through the Microsoft Research AI & Society Fellows Program. Through the initiative, fellows in disciplines other than core computer sciences can participate in multidisciplinary research with Microsoft Researchers.

Fellowship for Microsoft Research AI & Society | Requirements for Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the Microsoft Research Fellowship, candidates need to fulfill the essential prerequisites:
- Be a distinguished academic in an area and discipline other than computer science who is prepared to participate in a range of multidisciplinary projects centered on important research issues.
- Candidates must hold their terminal degree in their chosen field or study and be actively pursuing it (enrolled in a program) or have already completed it.
- Excellent research skills and a willingness to work with others outside of their profession are requirements for applicants.
