1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

The term “heaven” refers to three realms: the atmospheric heaven, the second heaven and the third heaven which is the abode of God. The third heaven is the focus of today’s devotional. The Scriptures speaks of heavenly spheres beyond that which is visible from the earth. It is called the highest heaven (Deuteronomy 10:14). The Psalmist also wrote: “Praise Him, ye heavens and you waters above the heavens (Psalms 148:4).
The third heaven is the home of God. However, the Bible is clear that God cannot be limited to one geographical place. He is omnipresent. “Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain you” (1 Kings 8:27). Obviously, heaven is a place where the people of God will reign in eternity. Jesus has already made that clear in our Memory Verse. He said He was going to prepare a place for us and would come and take us so that we would be with Him forever. Are you genuinely preparing to spend eternity in heaven with Jesus?
Revelation 21 gives us a clear picture of what heaven is like. It is a place that shines with the glory of God. The architectural design of heaven is a masterpiece. The wall is made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundation of the city walls are decorated with every kind of precious stone and the twelve gates are twelve pearls. The street of the city is also pure gold, like transparent glass. Heaven is a place of indescribable beauty, alluring glory and awesome holiness. Heaven is real. Unfortunately, some people are denying the reality of this beautiful place (2 Peter 3:1-11). Heaven is however not for sinners and unserious Christians. No unrighteous person shall enter therein.
The Bible, in Revelation 21:8, provides a list of those who will not enter heaven: the fearful, the unbelieving, the abominable, the murderers, the whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters and liars. Are you sure of eternity with Christ? Consider this.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
My head, receive heavenly revelation, in the name of Jesus.
I connect my life to the voice of heaven, in the name of Jesus.
Anything in my life that is struggling with heaven, be arrested, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
I enter into heavenly covenant, in the name of Jesus.
I will walk on the narrow way to heaven by fire, in the name of Jesus.
Lay your right hand on your chest and say: I am a candidate of heaven, in the name of Jesus.
I shall not miss heaven, whether the devil likes it or not, in the name of Jesus.
