TOPIC: Locate Where God Has Called You To Function (TREM Devotional 9 August 2021)

“And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.” Matthew 3:4 KJV

Do you know who you are? Do you know your purpose and assignment on earth? These are crucial questions that you must be able to answer clearly if you want to succeed in life.
We cannot all be lawyers, doctors, engineers and so on; but we can all be successful. However, it is crucial that you must know where God has called you to function and remain there even when things are not looking good.

According to our text, we see that John was operating in the wilderness; so, he had to wear camel’s leather and eat locust and wild honey, to function within the environment where God had called him: “Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan” (Matthew 3:5 KJV). People came all the way from Jerusalem to seek him in the wilderness because he was operating based on what God called him to do. I have often said it that if you send me to the desert, just give me a Bible and I will produce.

Many of us are struggling with life because we are not in the place of our calling. We have to be brutally honest with ourselves. Otherwise, when we encounter difficulties or burn out, we will begin to question even our calling. When you begin to question if you are really called, ask yourself if you are truly doing what you are called to do. Are you really following the principles? One thing I tell myself is that God cannot lie. Settle that in your heart.

God cannot call you to be a disappointment or a failure. If He has spoken it, He will bring it to pass. God will bring it to pass and not man. There is no margin for failure in God. The Bible is very clear that He is always there. And He said that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
