TOPIC: The Fear Of God (II) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 25 July 2021)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 146-150

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Deuteronomy 6:1-5

1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

MEMORY VERSE: “That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.” – Deuteronomy 6:2

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
When you fear and reverence God, men will also honour God in your life.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
ANY AGREEMENT OF DARKNESS TO KILL YOUR LOVE AND FEAR FOR GOD IS DESTROYED NOW, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

In the Old Testament, we see that there were frequent commands to God’s people to “fear God” or to “fear the Lord”. It is also important for us followers of Jesus Christ to understand what the command means today. Only when we fear the Lord will we be free from all destructive and satanic fears (Proverbs 14:27). When we fear God, we can avoid being diverted from His way, defying Him, doing what we want and damning consequences of living immoral lives.

The command to fear the Lord is central to our relationship with God as Christians. First, we must recognise that God is merciful, loving and forgiving, but He is also holy, just and righteous. These attributes of God make us to understand that He will judge sin. Therefore, true fear of God causes believers to place their faith and trust in Him alone for their salvation.

The fear of God prolongs man’s life. It makes a man to become the beloved of God, such as we could see in all His prophets such as Moses, Abraham and so on. The fear of God is a missing ingredient today in our Christian living. Many commit sin and disobey God’s word with impunity. Beloved, if you fear God, you will not fornicate, steal, gossip, tell lies and many more. Remember, the conclusion of the whole matter, fear of God!

Abraham feared God and that holy fear made him to obey God. It also earned him God’s commendation and untold blessings. In Genesis 22:12, the Bible records, “And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.” Let the fear of God rule your life and propel it to always please God. Beloved, both Job’s and Abraham’s examples are written for your learning. Emulate them!

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

My Father, I declare Your Lordship over the affairs of my life, in the name of Jesus.
Lord, let Your inexhaustible glory overshadow my life, in the name of Jesus.
Holy Spirit, I look up to You, help me, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING

My Father, show me what to do at the right time, in the name of Jesus.
Spirit of negative fear in my life, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.
Power to be in the good books of life, come upon me, in the name of Jesus.
My Father, come into my life afresh, in the name of Jesus.
