TOPIC: Grace Is A Great Teacher

READ: Titus 2:11-15 (NKJV)

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself [His] own special people, zealous for good works.

15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

THE MESSAGE:

The Bible tells us that we are saved by grace through faith. Verse 11 of our text makes it clear that the grace of God brings salvation, and this grace has appeared to all men. What does grace do? Grace teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly lust. If really we have been saved by grace, we should desist from such ungodly acts like lying, cheating, bribery, stealing, sexual immorality, gossiping. Some fuel stations owners who claim to have been saved by grace reset their metres and cheat the masses, some electricity distribution company staff exploit and extort people by giving them outrageous bills; some civil servants cheat, deceive, extort and exploit naïve persons who come to their tables. Many policemen, military men and other law enforcement agents intimidate and extort money from the citizens. Some teachers and lecturers exploit students, aid examination malpractice and sleep with students of the opposite sex, yet they claim to be children of God.

The grace of God does not make us sin, instead it teaches us to live soberly, righteously and godly in this world. Any person who is living in sin and claims that he is covered by grace is deceiving himself. Romans 6:1 clearly shows that we should not continue in sin that grace may increase. If you want to enter into the kingdom of God through grace, you must depart from sin and cling to righteousness.

PRAYER: Sing Hymn (SS & S) 601 stanza 2 and pray with it
All to Jesus I surrender
Humbly at His feet I bow
Worldly pleasure all forsaken
Take me, Jesus, take me now

Chorus: I surrender all …. I surrender all ……
All to thee my blessed Saviour, I surrender all.
